Custom Furniture
Including our specialty — custom booth and banquette seating, the built-in nook where every conversation starts.
The kitchen feature everyone's asking for
Booth and banquette seating has become one of the most talked-about kitchen features of the last few years — and for good reason. A built-in seating nook turns the kitchen from a workspace into the room the whole household actually wants to be in.
It's cosy without being cramped, space-saving by nature, and when it's built properly — with storage underneath, padded upholstery that suits the room, and dimensions sized for how people actually sit and eat — it becomes one of those things families say they should have done years ago.
Building booth and banquette seating to fit real homes is a Stirling Kitchens specialty. We make it in-house, which means we can accommodate the awkward corner that no product in a catalogue will fit, or the bay window nook that's been wasted space since the house was built.

What we can do that off-the-shelf can't
Fits your actual corner
Every kitchen corner is slightly different. We measure and build to fit yours — including walls that aren't square, floors that aren't level, and alcoves that no catalogue product reaches.
Storage underneath
Lift-out bench seats or drawers beneath the seating make the nook useful, not just decorative. Great for linen, toys, or items that need to be close to the kitchen.
Upholstery to suit the room
Cushions and upholstery in whatever fabric, colour or texture suits the space — coordinated with the kitchen design rather than chosen from a limited range.
Made in our workshop
Every piece is built by our team in Auckland. You get a consistent quality finish and the ability to make adjustments — no importing a product and hoping it fits.
Layout options we commonly build
The right layout depends on your kitchen size, the corner available, and how many people you want to seat comfortably. A few of the configurations we build most often:
L-shaped nook
Two bench seats meeting at a corner, paired with a freestanding table and chairs on the open sides. Good for most kitchen corners and seats four to six people comfortably.
U-shaped booth
Three-sided built-in seating around a central table. Maximum seating in a defined footprint — great for larger families or anyone who entertains regularly.
Curved banquette
A curved back and seat that follows the shape of a bay window or curved alcove. One of our most-requested builds and something that simply can't be sourced off-the-shelf.
Island-integrated
Seating that runs along one side of a kitchen island, creating a breakfast-bar-style nook that's part of the kitchen rather than placed in a corner.
Bay window seat
A bench seat fitted to the dimensions of a bay window — with or without a table. Often includes storage beneath the seat and a connection to the kitchen or dining layout.
Custom brief
If none of these describe your space, that's fine too. The whole point of custom manufacturing is starting from your kitchen and your brief, not a template.

Other custom furniture we build
Booth and banquette seating is what we're best known for in furniture, but it's not the only thing we build. If you have a custom furniture need that involves timber joinery and requires proper craftsmanship — a built-in bookcase, a window seat, a laundry room fitout, a custom study desk — get in touch and we'll tell you honestly whether it's something we can help with.
We'll expand this section with real project photos as completed work becomes available.
